Grandmaster Sung Soo Lee, 9th Dan


Grandmaster Sung Soo Lee began his study of martial arts when he was just 11 years old, under the tuition of his grandfather who taught him Ju-Jitsu. At the age of 17 he began studying Taekwondo Ji Do Kwan under Professor Yoon Kwe Byun in Seoul in 1953. In 1993 Master Lee was awarded his 9th Dan in Taekwondo. Master Lee's first encounter with Hapkido was in the Korean army in 1960. Here he met a soldier who taught him Yawara, later to be known as Hapkido. He was awarded his 9th Dan in Hapkido in 1996.


Master Sam Plumb, 7th Dan


Sam Plumb began his martial arts training in 1967. Like many youths, he was impressed by the martial arts he had seen on television. Year later, after earning ranks in Karate, Tang Soo Do and Taekwondo, he began studying Hapkido. In 1981 Sam opened his first Hapkido class in the East Midlands. Since that time he has become Master Chief Instructor of the European Hapkido Alliance. Sam currently holds the rank of 7th Dan in Hapkido and has trained in Korea.

Senior Instructor Matthew Lyons, 4th Dan

Matthew Lyons began training in Hapkido in 1988 under the tuition of Sam Plumb. He has trained with many Korean Masters of Hapkido but has always remained loyal to Sam Plumb and the European Hapkido Alliance. Matthew has worked hard to help promote Hapkido both in the U.K. and abroad and is a member of the EHA's International Demonstration Team. Matthe holds the position of Treasurer of the EHA.

Senior Instructor Nick Sellars, 4th Dan






Nick Sellars began training in Hapkido in 1991 under the tuition of Sam Plumb. He resides and teaches Hapkido in Mansfield Nottinghamshire. He has travelled all over the world, accompanying Sam Plumb, teaching Hapkido

Senior Instructor Stanislaw Sterkowicz - 4th Dan

Professor Stanislaw Sterkowicz is the head of the Combat Sports Department at the Academy of Physical Education in Krakow, Poland. He has trained in Hapkido under Master Sam Plumb since 1991 and currently holds the rank of 4 th Dan. He is also the Chief Instructor for Moo Hak Kwan Hapkido in Poland. Professor Sterkowicz also holds Dan grades in Ju-Jitsu.

The European Hapkido Alliance is recognised by
Grandmaster Sung Soo Lee and the International Hapkido Moo Hak Kwan as the governing body in the U.K. and Europe for Moo Hak Kwan and other traditional forms of Hapkido.
